Spring it up: A Casual Spring Lookbook, Part 1!

Spring is right around the corner, t-minus 20 days to be exact. What better way to bring in the new season than with a spring lookbook!

Outfit Details:
Knit Top: Forever 21, High-Waisted Jean Shorts: Thrifted Calvin Klein, Black Cutout shoes: Jeffrey Campbell (Melina), Sunglasses: Urban outfitters, Gold Watch: Michael Kors, Backpack: Rebecca Minkoff (Logan).

Recently I have been into this 90's meets NastyGal vibe in all of my Spring outfits and I am totally okay with it. There's nothing like a pair of vintage high-waisted jean shorts to brighten up your day. My inspiration for these two outfits were the 3 main accessories that I used (Sunglasses, Shoes & Bag). This Spring I am taking a more darker approach and wearing a lot of black. I'm also wearing more muted colors, black with pops of color and black with prints. This is a fun way to change it up if you're into a lot of black. A slow transition into Spring fashion and trends!

Happy Spring shopping everyone! Make sure to tag your ootd's on Instagram with #shopelleb if you were inspired by any of these looks. That way we can see all of your cute outfits!

I Heart You

Here's another OOTD! This is perfect for a casual day of brunch with the girls! And this is just one way to wear this cardi. For a more dressed-up look, maybe some skinny dark wash jeans and pumps!

Holidays are perfect for me since they require to be as cheesy as possible, so naturally I went the cliche route with this one and added a red lip! (This also helped me realize I have this adorable red bag I use to obsess over.)

The big day is tomorrow, hope it's special for everyone!

Dining in, please!

Sometimes the best things in life are the simple things. It's the thought that counts right? So how about this Valentine's Day, you stay in and cook some dinner for your significant other and save yourself a hefty amount of money!

My favorite go-to meal that seems like I took hours to prepare is Lasagna rolls! Sounds fancy huh? Well...if I told you you would only need to spend around $18-30 (if you want dessert or not, or a side dish) to make this meal would you believe me? Well you should start believing because I made it happen.

So here is what you'll need:

-1 box of lasagna pasta
-2 jars of tomato sauce (Preferably one with added seasoning and taste)
-1 tub of ricotta cheese
-1 ziploc bag
-1 bag of shredded cheese (your preferred cheese)
-1 lb of lean ground beef

-1 large oven safe dish to put the rolls in so you can bake them in the oven.

Step 1: first you need to grab a pot and start boiling the water for the pasta (Med-Hi heat setting). Add a little bit of olive oil and salt to the water and let the water boil. Also preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2: In a separate pot begin to cook your ground beef in a medium setting. Season to your liking and cook until browned. (Tip: I like to add some of the tomato sauce to the ground beef while it's cooking to add extra color and flavor.) You can add chopped onions, salt, pepper or anything! It all depends how you prefer to season it.

Step 3: Once the meat is cooking, check to see if your water is boiling and add the pasta. You can add as many as you like, I usually add 12, since that's how many fit in the dish. let the pasta boil from 14-18 minutes. You don't want to fully cook the pasta since you're going to bake it, but don't leave it too raw or you'll get crunchy pasta! (no bueno)

Step 4: While the pasta and meat are cooking, start setting up your station. A bowl of cheese, a bowl of sauce, a ziploc bag to add your ricotta cheese so it's easier to squeeze out. A plate to place the pasta  so you can layer up all the ingredients, and finally, the oven safe dish to bake the rolls in.

Step 5: Once the pasta is cooked, use a strainer to remove the water. You can either leave the pasta in the strainer and remove the pasta as you go, or place them on a baking sheet, whatever is easiest for you.

Step 6: Don't forget the meat! Add the cooked meat into a bowl in you station. Now is the messy part, (Hence the lack of photos) now you will grab the pasta, place it flat on the plate and you can begin to add the ingredients. Here is the order I did it in (Even layers, for best results):

before you roll, make sure to add an even layer of sauce into the baking dish so the rolls don't stick!

With a spoon, spread the sauce evenly on the pasta.
added the meat
squeeze the ricotta cheese
sprinkle the shredded cheese

and roll it up! it is pretty easy. Once you have rolled it, place it in the baking dish.

Repeat the process until you have the desired amount of rolls!

Once you have filled the dish, evenly add a layer of sauce over the rolls and add as much shredded cheese as you like. (I love cheese, so I emptied the remainder of the bag over the rolls, lol)

Now bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is completely melted and toasty!!

Ta-Da! Your rolls are all done.

I served my rolls with a side of seasoned baked asparagus, but feel free to serve it with any side you like. Garlic bread, veggies, the options are endless!

Here is the finished Lasagna roll! I'm no chef, but it's the thought that counts right?

Enjoy your meals! If you make this meal, post it on Instagram with the hashtag #ShopelleB so we can see all your yummy meals!

Happy Vday cooking! May the lasagna roll gods be in your flavor.

Je t'aime Noir

Black is what I like to consider the most versatile of colors. Black not only matches with all colors, even itself, but also determines what type of style you have and even what type of person you may be. The saying: Pink is the New Black never made much sense to me. Sure, pink is the most girly color of them all, but the real saying is: Every girl needs a little black dress.

This Valentine's Day, let's throw cliche out the window! Our intern friend Dani took a twist on things with a darker side. Of course, the french words "Je t'aime" (French for I Love You) are classic and beautiful. This is the perfect outfit for a day of shopping before your romantic night out. For an accent color, maybe not a red or pink, but neon yellow because..why not! Add some combat boots, and you have yourself a Valentine Sweetheart gone rockstar!

Valentine's Day Gift Guide!

Whether you're in a relationship, just friends or a family member, Valentine's day is a great holiday to give gifts full of thought and creativity.

If you're into gift giving, a fun little thing you can do for your friends is goodie bags filled with candy and a note. This is a great way to brighten up their day, whether they're single or taken! Let's be real, people love receiving, especially if its candy or food.

If you're a baker, don't waste those skills, bake you're friends and loved ones some goodies, not only will they appreciate it, their tummies will too!

If you're creative and are good with paper, try to create a personalized Valentine's Day card. The meaning behind the card will be a lot greater than if you just purchased a pre-made card.

Valentine's day is a day full of love, so let the people you love know that you love them, whether you just tell them or get them a little thoughtful gift.

And....if you're in a relationship, you can always get your significant other a nice little gift. Some of my favorites are:

-Perfume/Cologne
-Watches
-purses/wallets
-A nice shirt
-A belt

The options are endless but you know your significant other well enough to know what they would like to receive. Hope you all are successful in all your Valentine's day gift ideas and remember, it is the thought that counts!

Stylishly Yours,

Jomy xoxo

OOTN Lady In Red

With Valentine's day right around the corner, what better than an outfit of the night. Whether you're going on a date, or a girls night out, this sexy outfit is good for both! Nothing says sexy like a red dress. In this outfit I picked out a red bondage dress that is flattering on many figures. Pair this dress with some nude heels and you're good to go. For accessories I kept it simple with the nude colored clutch and a gold statement watch. There's nothing like a red lip on valentines day, therefore, you can pick your favorite shade of red.

Make this Valentine's day a fashionable one! Comment down below some of your Valentine's day outfit ideas and let us know if this outfit inspired you!

Stylishly yours,

Jomy xo

Sweet Tooth

My favorite time of year is the holiday time. And my favorite guilty pleasure is the Pinterest Holiday category. You can find the best crafts, food, desserts, costumes, etc! If only everything I re-pinned popped up in my living room. Wishful thinking.

I dedicate Day 5 to the cutest cupcake recipe. The first time I saw it, I fell in love. It's a surprise, adorable, and delicious all at the same time. The typical cupcake is vanilla with a red heart, but there's always room for creativity! You could have a red velvet cupcake with a vanilla heart, or a chocolate cupcake with a strawberry cake heart; the possibilities are endless! And food coloring is a big helper in all of this fun stuff. These are perfect enough to put a smile on anyone's face.

Of course, we can't forget the delicious, typical sweets: a box of chocolate, candy hearts, chocolate covered strawberries....anything covered in chocolate actually.

So...
What Valentine's Day treat tingles your sweet tooth!?

a.k.a Single Awareness Day

Oh, Valentine's Day..where to begin? It can be a day filled with extravagant gifts, flowers, a romantic date or getaway, but for others that isn't the case. And quite frankly, who cares!

Valentine's Day began as a religious celebration and throughout of the years, it has trickled down to become a day where people just make you feel bad for not being in a relationship (unintentionally, of course). So, if you're feeling the V-Day blues, don't fret! If you are in a relationship, celebrate Valentine's Day with the one you love and love them with all your heart. And if you're single, the same goes for you! Why wouldn't you be able to hang out with a group of friends and celebrate love, in a different sort of way!? There goes that unwritten rule handbook again, telling us how to celebrate a holiday that was modified by well..us.

This Single Awareness day, make it aware that you're single! This year, flaunt it with confidence. It's 2014 people! Embrace it. And here are some helpful tips to defying Cupid:

"Pinking of You"

When I think of Valentine's day I think about pink and red, not only for roses, chocolate boxes or cards, but for lipstick. Theres nothing like a pink lipstick to get your day going. My top seven lipsticks are the ones pictured above. From a nice subtle light pink stain, to a vibrant hot pink lipstick, my top picks are definitely worth trying out, especially for Valentine's day!

From left to right:
1. Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in 205 "Elusive"
2. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in 020 "Lovesick"
3. Mac Lustre Lipstick in "Syrup"
4. Wet n Wild Matte Lipstick in 905D "Smokin' Hot Pink"
5. Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in 090 "Sweet Tart"
6. Revlon Color Vivids in 875 "Vivid Rose"
7. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in  "San Paulo"

My current favorite is the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in "Elusive." I absolutely love the formulation of it because although it is a matte finish, It is probably the most hydrating matte lipstick I have ever used.

My everyday lipstick definitely has to be the Mac Lustre Lipstick in "Syrup." This lipstick has to be one of the prettiest soft pinks I have ever laid my eyes on. Depending on your skin tone, some pink tones may be too light and creamy looking, but I definitely believe this one is a good match for all types.

Overall, all of these lipsticks are perfect for whether you want a nice subtle stain, or a bright pop of color. Definitely worth trying out!

Sweetheart

Here's the first post of our countdown to Valentine's Day, from your Elle B bloggers! For February 1st, we decided to do a casual Valentine's lunch day look, with a friend or a lover.

The first look is by Jomy! She chose a softer look with a baby pink and cream palette. Boyfriend jeans paired with a crop top is a fun, sexy look and to dress it up a bit, she added these gorgeous heels. With lipstick to match the shoes, it ties the whole outfit together! Love it!

The second look was done by yours truly. I also chose boyfriend jeans (great minds think alike)  with a plain white tee. For my color pop, a brighter pink and red were the choices! To make an even more casual look, I paired this with classic white chucks. I had to add this heart shaped bag, it's cliche and adorable. With these colors, flowers, and hearts, you're like a walking Valentine.

So, here's our ideas for some simple Valentine's Day looks. For more fun, create your own looks and tag on us Instagram (@shopelleb) with the hashtag #shopelleb! Hope you enjoyed the first day of the countdown. Stayed tuned for tomorrow's! Xx
